…honoring  Darian Brenae Lewis (DJ DBaby)

 Her family knew her as “Punkin”, while the community knew her as DJ DBaby.

Darian grew up in Houston and attended Parker Elementary, Pershing Middle School and in 2017 graduated from Glenda Dawson High School. Upon graduation from Dawson High School, her requested graduation gift was DJ equipment. She innately knew that she was going to be a DJ and landed her first gig shortly after. Her career started at Texas Southern University, where she worked as a resident DJ and for KTSU 90 9FM. 

Darian later became a socialite and impactful DJ in the Hip Hop community and was recognized on multiple podcasts and received numerous awards such as 60 DJ Awards, QC DJ, 1501 DJ, and DJ of the Year, HTX Promo Awards, Mac Makeup DJ, Kendra Scott DJ, Quality Control DJ and Brand Ambassador for Bassett Hair.  She also was an intro DJ for Kendrick Lamar, Robin Thicke and many other celebrities. She took pride in being active in the community and making a difference. while helping others.

As her DJ career progressed, she was recognized by local celebrities, radio stations, hip hop venues, and artist. Her passion and love for producing good music have cultivated her into a cultural phenomenon that inspires budding producers and fans. While many have tried to recreate her success story, not many have impacted what DJ DBaby did. She paved the way for many producers, DJs, and upcoming artist. Darian has appeared in articles for national and local publications such as Ebony Magazine, Voyage, and the Houston Chronicle. One of her shared spotlights was “In the Booth with D.J. D Baby” which allowed upcoming artist to showcase their talent.  

Her passion for success led her towards dual entrepreneurship as the owner of D Baby Entertainment and in 2021, DJ Dbaby started Hookah Heroes, hookah service. Due to such success, she opened a second location for Hookah Heroes in 2022. This 23-year-old lived life IN purpose. To know her is to love her. Her great personality and laughter could change the atmosphere with her presence. DJ Dbaby had a huge love for her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with friends and traveling the world displaying her best gift of all in DJ entertainment. Her impact on the world will live forever even upon death, she still exhibits selfless acts of generosity gifting as an organ donor with the intent to help others survive.
